HappyBaby Organic Puffs (Review)

Most mothers, including me, wonder what to feed our children once they can start eating solid food. After searching around for a while, I am happy to come across one HappyFamily product: HappyBaby organic puffs.

They are perfect starter finger foods / snack for my little one. In fact, they are suitable for teething children as well.

Some of the benefits:

  • Perfect starter finger food
  • Teething food
  • Encourage self-feeding
  • Organic
  • Unsalted
  • Gluten free
  • Made with brown rice
  • Many varieties to choose from
  • No added colors, artificial preservatives or artificial flavors

Created by moms who are nutritionists and pediatricians as well, I can rest easy when my son munches them down by the handfuls. He loves them so much he would eat a whole bowl if he could. In fact, my son could easily finish the whole content (60g) within days as it is stated on the packaging that the puffs should be consumed within one week of opening for optimal freshness.

While the container is in an easy-to-carry shape and the lids are easy to open for young children, it is not airtight. Therefore, transfer the puffs to an airtight container if you want to stretch the puffs past one week. The small, rounded rice puffs are firm enough to hold but soft on the gums. They melt in the mouth so there is no worry about them getting stuck in the throat when eaten properly.

The puffs are sweetened with 100% fruit juice so no processed sugar are present. Since I have tasted quite a few, I can vouch for that. For those who have gluten-intolerant children, parents would be happy to know that the puffs are gluten free. The creators also include 25g Choline per serving for better eye and brain health.

Another feature that I like very much is that they come in many different flavors like bananas, apples, strawberries, sweet potatoes, purple carrots & blueberries and greens. Therefore, if your little one doesn’t like the taste of greens like my son, just switch to apples or bananas.

Some of the nutritional facts (% of  Daily Value) printed on their BPA free and recyclable packaging:

  • Vitamin A 10%
  • Vitamin C 10%
  • Vitamin D 10%
  • Vitamin E 10%
  • Vitamin B12 10%
  • Vitamin B6 5%
  • Protein 3%
  • Calcium 10%
  • Iron 10%
  • Thiamin 10%
  • Riboflavin 10%
  • Niacin 5%
  • Phosphorus 5%
  • Zinc 15%

For parents who only want the best for their children and usually feed organic food will be happy to know that these foods have been certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). There is no wheat, no soy and no corn in making these puffs. Some ingredients include organic brown rice flour, organic white rice flour, organic apple juice concentrate, organic strawberry powder, and calcium carbonate among others.

The containers come with lids that are easy to access making them very convenient when travelling.

And understandably, being organic superfoods, you have to pay a bit more for them. However, if you can afford them and want easy healthy snack foods for your little ones, this is the way to go. Easy to transport, no mess, no fuss. Just simple healthy goodness in small packages. All in all, five stars from this mom.
